Upcoming Meetings and Events
We will do our best to publicize local meetings and events related to the
proposed 38-story skyscraper at 708 Church. If you know of a meeting that is
not listed here, please let us know. Below
is a list of events we are currently
aware of.
Coming Events
Although the proposed Tower and zoning amendment were tabled at the Planning & Development meeting in May, the project was not
voted down. The Planning & Development Committee (all nine Aldermen) passed the "hot potato" back to the Plan Commission. The Plan
Commission is now charged with presenting a version of the Draft Downtown Plan back to the Planning & Development Committee with
recommendations for the height and density of structures in the downtown core (including 708 Church). We encourage citizens to continue to
contact their elected officials to express their opinion about the proposed significant increases in density in key downtown blocks.
- Wednesday July 9 7:00pm - The Plan Commission will meet in Council Chambers to continue discussion of the
Draft Downtown Plan which will be a key factor in determining whether the Tower can be built.
- Wednesday July 16 7:00pm - A special meeting of the Plan Commission in Council Chambers to continue discussion of the
Draft Downtown Plan.
